So far you have seen some of the transformation from one of our last homes that we renovated. In this article, we will show you room by room how we made this entire house a home.

Room #1- The Kitchen

You may recall from the previous post how the kitchen was transformed. This room of the house was drastically changed and for very little money! Sweat equity at its best!

Here was the before of the kitchen:

So what changed in the kitchen? EVERYTHING!

• Fruit wallpaper accents came down
• Drop ceiling came down
• Light fixture replaced
• Cabinets painted
• Trim painted to stand out from the walls
• Curtains removed to let in the natural light
• Layers of floor removed to expose the original hardwoods
• Original hardwoods restored!

Room #2- Living/Dining Room

In this house, the living room and dining room really required very little work. The paint color was not bad and the original floors were already exposed. All we needed to do was paint the trim, sand and refinish the floors, and add some curtains.

Room #3- The Bathroom

Bathrooms, much like kitchens can also cost a substantial amount of money to renovate. However, just as we transformed the kitchen for a few hundred dollars (minus the cost of appliances), the bathroom too only took about $50!

What was done?

• Textured wall paper came down (not willingly)
• New light fixtures
• Painted ceiling and trim
• Painted walls
• New shower curtain

Kitchens, bathrooms, and dining rooms can be the most expensive rooms to renovate if you aren’t creative with your resources. Paint is only about $25 per gallon. Elbow grease is free. 🙂
